Mountain Meadow Engagement

Tipsoo Lake - Dipping the bride.

Hannah & Robbie | Engagement at Tipsoo Lake

the happy couple.

Tipsoo Lake

First, this session was as magnificent as it looks. There is nothing like a mountain meadow engagement at Tipsoo Lake! I had never been to Tipsoo Lake. It’s near Mt. Rainier off of highway 410. I knew this would be a big adventure and so I was excited for the day. The mountain meadow engagement shoot turned out to be just that!

Tipsoo Lake is definitely a destination you should consider. It has a convenient parking lot right next to it. The view of Mount Rainier is incredible. In addition, the path around the lake is relatively flat in comparison to other hikes around the area. It’s about an hour or so up from Enumclaw, Washington. And, features the lake, a small pond next to it with a creek flowing near by and an additional pond across the highway. In my opinion, it’s a great place to go for people of all ages. Also, you don’t really need hiking shoes. However, you want to stay on the narrow paths as the floral and fauna in the meadow are delicate.

Mountain Meadow Photoshoot

I spent the evening with Hannah and Robbie following the path around the lake that’s surrounded by beautiful meadows and edged by forest trees. There’s bridges and cozy benches tucked along the path that is perfect for breathing in the fresh air and incredible view. It’s perfect for a little stroll or snuggling with someone you love. It reminded me that I can’t get enough of the mountains around my home. The pacific northwest is blessed with such a wide variety of landscapes to choose from and this particular view did not disappoint.

Surprisingly, there was frogs, birds and a little buck with furry antlers. The buck ran through their mountain meadow engagement, too. Even though we were hoping for a plethora of flowers, we only got a peek of them. The wildflowers were just starting to bloom along the meadow paths. Giving us a peek of white, purple and a bit of yellow. We did our best to be careful not to walk in the meadow itself as we want the flowers to bloom.

The Couple

The one thing I learned about Hannah and Robbie is they are both adventurous and truly in love. Watching them laugh as they walked hand in hand down the mountain meadow paths was a delight for me to see. Once the sun began to set, the light changed and we had perfect shots of the “golden hour.” The sunset was unique as it blazed across the sky and lit up Mount Rainier. Honestly, I love their sweet relationship and how they met.

The Engagement Ring

Interestingly, the engagement ring was an amazing moonstone solitaire. I rarely see it as an engagement or wedding stone but it’s been a favorite for centuries. Moonstone is often a tangible connection to the magic of the moon – an amulet of protection for travelers, a gift of lovers for passion, a channel for prophecy, and a path to wisdom according to crystal experts. It’s so cool to see one used as an engagement ring. It fit the backdrop of the golden hour light amidst the backdrop of Mt. Rainier and the Cascades.

The Photos

To be honest, I am honored to get to capture this special time in their lives. Enjoy their engagement photos, especially the ones with the sun setting. It was breathtaking!
