Why Its important to Make Memories

April 9, 2018

A Little about me…

My grandmother who taught me the importance of making memories. Why its important to make memories is one of the biggest lessons I learned from my grandmother. When I was young, I remember going to my granddad’s house and looking up on his wall at a black and white photo of my grandmother. She was dressed in black with a band of pearls around her neck. There are only a handful of images I’ve found of her because she was the one taking the pictures. Each one of the images of her is precious to my family as they are the lasting reminders of her.  I never met my grandmother, but I often look at her kind eyes and imagine what she was like.

My nana often told me, “Well behaved women seldom make history.” This quote from Laurel Thatcher Ulrich was her motto and I have made it mine. To do this right, you have to know why its important to make memories.

As a young mother, I assessed my own assortment of images, and I realized there were very few of me in the shots because I was always the one behind the camera. I realized the importance of an image. It’s capturing a memory.
